At Marintec China 2015, three types of DSIC’s products have been certified by DNV.GL and ABS respectively. On Dec.1, the opening day, DNV.GL conferred Design Principle Validation Certificate (AIP) on DSIC LNG-fueled VLCC and DSJ 500-foot jackup. On Dec.2, DSJ375 jackup developed by DSIC independently passed attestation of ABS.
Liu Wenmin and Guan Yinghua, DSIC’s Deputy Chief Engineers, introduced the backgrounds of development and technical advantages respectively and received the certificates.
LNG-fueled VLCC conforms to the latest rules and regulations with outstanding strength, where C-type fuel tank is arranged on the open deck, minimizing the effect on general arrangement,; carrying capacity remains unchanged in comparison with traditional VLCC; Endurance is powerful, where capacity of LNG fuel tank is enough to power the entire voyage (a round voyage) from the Middle East to USA without refilling en route; dual-fuel main engine and auxiliary engine are adopted so as to completely eliminate emission of PM and Sox under the mode of LNG fuel, and meet demand of IMO Tier III NOx emission; EEDI is 30% lower than reference value to meet its Phase 3 requirements. In addition, the design of dual fuel facilitates great flexibility in fuel selection.
DSJ 500-foot jackup is capable of handling in 500 feet water depth and rough sea, where the development of such product has further improved DSIC’s range of products in the field of jackups. This enables the large jackups with proprietary intellectual property right leap from 400 feet to 500 feet, covering the most common water depth in current jackups, which shall furnish a reliable support of equipment for marine resource exploitation while enhancing market competitiveness of offshore equipment in China
DSJ375 jackup is applied for oil exploration and development in neritic waters, capable of operating in global unrestricted waters, with max. operating water depth of 375 feet, max. drilling depth of 9144m and a design complement of 150 persons, where all types of index take a lead among similar types of jackups.
The current offshore equipment market is sluggish, but DSIC has never slowed down the step for technical development and conducted the research and development of new equipment positively aimed at market demand. This project falls within the market segment of jackup products, where the design has further improved DSIC’s range of products in jackup field, enriched product mix, and furnished powerful support in DSIC further expanding jackup market. The certification of these three types is significant for DSIC to receive future orders and stay ahead in this field.
